So quite a bit has happened in the last 8 months, are you surprised? We had a very eventful summer but will jump to the most current activity. Adam started as assistant manager for Pacific Steel and Recycling in Elko. Oak Tree Inn was to be considered his residence for a month, while our house was being finished. We purchased a house that had started construction and we just had to wait for the finished project. As all construction goes though, Adam ended up spending 2 months in the hotel instead of a month. Needless to say we are elated to be with him now. We are living in a little town called Spring Creek, just outside of Elko, NV.
David and Lucy are adjusting to the move, but it is taking longer than mom has patience for. Did I mention that you should never move the week before Daylight Savings to a new time zone? Two hour adjustments are much more difficult than one. David is still as smart as ever and just had his fourth birthday. He is mad that he is 4 because he isn't allowed to get married until he is in is late twenties, and lately that is about all that he can talk about. Hormones came early with that boy. Lucy is a handful. Her name definitely fits her, she is a precocious stinker that is a light in everyone's life.
I have decided that I am going to change up my blog a little bit. I am going to continue updating you all on our family, but I think it is also important to journal the adventures of a city girl moving to a small town in the middle of NOWHERE!
Now we begin. It all started when I walked up my sidewalk for the first time and was greeted by a cricket/spider thing that was gold with a brown butt. It wouldn't have been so bad had it not been the size of a horse, or maybe a silver dollar at least. The response from the gentleman helping us move in was, "Oh, those, they are everywhere, not a big deal."
Then we move on to that night when a 8 pt. buck came walking down our road. Majestic, yes. Normal, absolutely not. We have to be careful when we drive at night because there are deer around every corner.
I never thought that I would have to say that I was going into town, yet I caught myself saying it the day that I got here. I have filled up my tank 1 1/2 times since I got here and I have only been here for a week and a half.
A couple of days ago, Adam and I were trying to go to bed at a reasonable time for once. We were almost asleep when heard something. Adam asked me if it was the kids or if it was a dog. I will never forget my response. I casually said, "No, Adam thats not a dog thats a coyote." Then I realized that I wasn't camping, I was talking about a coyote being in our front yard then coming into our back yard, howling at the moon.
Next post I will tell you about the spiders.
Updates will come shortly.
